The design intent of the Floral Colour Garden is to create an informal garden in which one could stroll in an alternate landscape; such as coloured floral displays; laid out by colours, starting with pink and working through red, orange, yellow, white, blue, purple and lavender and different natural habitats such as the wooded areas with native trees, and into open, grassy spaces.

in Cayman’s history.

XEROPHYTIC GARDEN

The Xerophytic Garden is a model for gardeners in the Cayman Islands who want to grow cacti and other low-maintenance plants that require a little water.

THE LAKE

The Lake and Wetland – Situated on the edge of a Buttonwood Swamp, this area provides birdwatchers with a great opportunity to view many of the Cayman Islands native birds as well as many migratory species.

ORCHIDS AT THE PARK

The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park is home to ten of the twenty-eight orchid species recorded from the Cayman Islands, and four of these are endemic (found nowhere else on earth).

BUTTERFLIES AT THE PARK

The Cayman Islands is home to 57 butterfly species, five of which are endemic to these Islands,  others are visitors and some are new residents.

THE BLUE IGUANA HABITAT

Along the Woodland Trail lies the Blue Iguana Habitat, which is the centre for the National Trust’s Blue Iguana Conservation Programme.

The Habitat has become an exceptionally popular area as the captive breeding grounds for these fascinating reptiles who only two decades ago were facing extinction. Frequently found freely roaming the grounds of the Park, these “Blue dragons” delight both local and foreign visitors who happen upon them.

THE VISITORS’ CENTRE & GIFT SHOP

The Visitor Centre is a two-story Caymanian style building with a wide, welcoming veranda. Inside is a gift shop where you can pick up a free map of the park. From there you are welcome to stroll into a verdant courtyard graced with orchids and tropical plants surrounding a water feature and stepping stones.

We have a wide selection of books for children and adults on different topics such as the Flora of the Cayman Islands by the world-renowned botanist Dr. George Proctor.

Bring home an easy to travel with and lasting souvenir; our different colour changing T-shirt. Local crafts are well displayed in our gift shop, buy locally for a unique present that will be sure to please.
