1. What are your COVID-19 health and safety requirements?

The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park is adhering to the below COVID-19 safety measures to keep you, your family, our visitors, members, volunteers, and staff safe:

All visitors and staff are required to wear face masks in all indoor spaces.

  • All person’s temperatures may be taken upon entry.
  • Social distancing is required, and social distancing signage is in place.
  • Hand sanitizing stations are positioned in the Visitors Centre allowing our visitors to practice good hygiene from entry to exit of the building.
  • Periodic and the end-of-day sanitizing of the shop & exhibition spaces will help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We will continue to monitor, assess, and adjust our COVID-19 safety measures with guidance and recommendations from The Cayman Islands Government.

2. Are dogs allowed at the Park?

No, because of the endangered Blue Iguanas that roam freely in the QEII Botanic Park.

3. Is the Park stroller and wheelchair accessible?

It is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs in some areas, but please note the paths are uneven and left natural in many locations. We would be glad to assist with a golf cart to accommodate your needs.

4. Are there restrooms available?

Restrooms are located at the Visitor Centre, Colour Garden (yellow section), and by the Rotary Schoolhouse located in the children’s garden development.

5. Is there a restaurant at the Park?

Currently, we only have a food vendor on Saturdays from 11 AM till 4 PM. You may bring outside food in, but we ask that all debris be removed and no feeding of any of the wild animals that may be present.

6. Is alcohol allowed on the Park grounds?

No alcohol is allowed on the QEII Botanic Park grounds.

7. Are Blue Iguanas found in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman?

Blue Iguanas are only found in Grand Cayman and are an endemic species. There are similar iguanas on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, but they do not get the blue colouration.

9. Can I book a tour any day?

Yes, private tours can be booked with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice and will be subject to staff availability. The cost is CI$5.00 extra per person.

10. What do the tours involve?

An approximate one hour tour that provides plant identification and cultural information of the Cayman Islands.

11. Can I host my child’s birthday party at the Children’s Garden?

12. Are there any dangerous or venomous animals inside the Park?

No.

13. How do I get to the Park?

We are located on Frank Sound Rd, in the District of North Side and it is approximately a 40-minute drive east of the George Town area, or a 15-minute drive if coming from the East End area. Click here for detailed travel information.

14. Why is the Lake sometimes dried up?

The Botanic Park is a natural habitat, the lake is actually part of a seasonally flooded area that will dry up if natural rainfall does not occur.
