THE QUEEN ELIZABETH II BOTANIC PARK IS A UNIQUE BLEND OF NATURAL BEAUTY, CULTURE & HISTORY.

divnew

Enjoy a leisurely walk-through colorful garden; sit down near the lake and relax in the natural display which is the home of the endangered Grand Cayman Blue Iguana. The two-acre lake also serves as a habitat and breeding ground for native birds and other rare aquatic birds and animals native to the Caribbean.

The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park includes seven main attractions – the Visitor’s Centre, the Floral Garden, Orchid Boardwalk, Xerophytic Garden, Heritage Garden, Woodland Trail, and the Children’s Garden (under development).

The Park is located in the district of North Side on Frank Sound Road and is situated on 65 acres of land owned by the Cayman Islands Government and the National Trust for the Cayman Islands. Both are non-profit, statutory bodies that serve to conserve natural environments in the Cayman Islands for present and future generations.

The Botanic Park is also the site of the Blue Iguana Conservation Facility, a captive breeding facility and test site for the endangered Blue Iguana population. The Blue Iguana is only found on the island of Grand Cayman.

On your visit to the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, you may even see one!

The place to go.... The perfect place to go to totally relax. Well looked after, great variety. Specialized gardens that are beautifully tended. Walk the woodland trails.....(easy to walk) and spot birds, butterflies, and if you are lucky as I was you will see a Cayman Rabbit(Agoutis) and even Blue Iguanas strolling around. The Iguana habitat is worth a visit while at the gardens.... All in all the place is an oasis of natural calm and not to be missed.

Queen Elisabeth II Botanic Park A big park which lies in the eastern part of Grand Cayman, so plan at least a couple of hours here! It takes about 45 min. to go by car from Georgetown, tickets can be bought at ticket office in the entrance building, you will also get a map of the park. Here is the only place where the blue iguanas native to the Cayman can be seen in the wild, the species is endangered now. As well a whole lot of different flora, birds and butterflies, an orchid park and a typical Cayman house are presented. In the botanical part of the park there are many places to sit and rest, so a day or half a day here is a good idea for leisure type travellers or nature photographers. Try not to hurry through it. The iguanas roam free around the park, the colorful parrots fly above, and sun shines. Best place to be in the nature surroundings at the Grand Cayman. By the entrance there is a shop with souvenirs and refreshments and WC, admission rates are 8 CI dollar, and no pets are allowed in the Park.

Check out the Blue Iguanas Great break from the beach for a day if you need one. The blue iguanas are well worth the additional price and goes to helping save this endangered species only native to GC.

Wonderful garden and neat blue iguanas We came here on our trip to Cayman on a day that was quite windy and with intermittent showers so it was great to be inland instead of trying water activities. The garden is organized around different colored plants a green area, blue area, pink area, yellow area, etc. We loved seeing the different types of plants. We spotted several blue iguanas here (just out in the wild no guarantees) and also a pair of parrots (wild) and a snake. Be warned the tea house is a pagoda NOT a place to get food. Other than a few snacks in the gift shop they do not have a restaurant or cafe here. The signage to get there is limited so use your gps and pay attention if driving yourself.

Beautiful & Peaceful Great way to spend a day away from the beach and ocean to enjoy the lush tropical surroundings and exhibits. Also a chance to see the blue iguanas while strolling the grounds. Nice gift shop to cool off in after your walk.

The perfect surface interval Can't dive? Go here. The lush gardens will feel like exploring a reef. It's the perfect place to discover all kinds of vibrant plants, exotic birds, and all kinds of other creatures (some favorites: the silver thatch palm, green parrot, and blue iguana).
